Foster Baby #3

Two years ago this month my daughter and her husband began fostering a sweet baby boy on his second day of life. He turned out to be one of the sweetest little guys ever, and a special part of our family.

Fostering is definitely not for the faint of heart. A child is in fostering due to some kind of family issues or concerns that become enough for children to be removed from their families, and their familiar settings. This is nothing short of trauma to the little ones, even as young as 1 day old. Finding a safe foster home is critical to their futures.

I watched my daughter love 3 little boys. First two brothers then the next year the 1-day old baby boy. She mothered each of these boys with a fierce love. It was inspiring and breathtaking.

The two brothers reunited with their father in a happy ending.

The baby boy ultimately went to his forever home with an extended family member. Moving him to his new home was both happy and hard, emotionally. The best part of the move was the connection my daughter and her husband made with baby boy’s new family. They became a bigger extended family all together and continue to see baby boy as much as possible.

Later in March this baby boy turns 2!

In April the best possible event will take place. Baby boy is being adopted by his forever family, and my daughter and her husband are baby boy’s godparents. It’s a beautiful ending to a traumatic beginning.

Happy Birthday, baby boy, and Happy Adoption Day to you and all your family!
