Don’t Should on Yourself, Just Write!

Believe me, I have “should on myself” many, many times! I think about how often I thought about writing and telling myself I “should do that” and didn’t do it. How thankful I am that I stopped should-ing on myself and took the plunge to “Just Write!”

Does this make sense yet? Think about the many times we tell ourselves we “should” do this or that and then end up not doing it. Remember the “should haves” from the past? For example, I definitely “should have” finished college when I was younger rather than finishing later as an adult. There isn’t anything I can do about that now. It is part of my past and I did what I did. The end.

However, as far as the future, I can do something to stop myself from “should-ing on myself!” I should write book 2! Hey, I am working on final touches of book 2!

I should write book 3! Hey, I have pieces of book 3 started!

I should finish both in 2024. Yes, that’s my plan. My plan is to finish both and publish both in 2024. I certainly don’t want to end up saying, “I should have done that!”

So, what might be stopping you from the “Should on Yourself” syndrome? My advice?

“Just Write!”
